expanded “emote” command

12/17/2010

Hello,

I’ve expanded our “emote” command. Please read “help emote” to familiarize yourself with its features. A quick overview of what is new:

1) Your name can now be anywhere in the sentence rather than always at the beginning.

2) You can now address objects (armours, weapons, etc) as well.

3) You can now conjugate verbs.

4) Emote now uses ANSI colors (you can turn off/turn on/set them under “setcolor communication”).

Since the code is rather complex, I fully expect some problems at the beginning, so if you encounter bugs, please let me know immediately (either post on the forums, send me a mudmail or commune me directly). However, before you decide that it’s a bug, please make sure you fully read and understood the help-file (of course if you think the help-file isn’t clear enough on certain things, let me know as well).

Lastly, there are several rules to prevent abuse of the new emote command, so please read them carefully.

Enjoy,
Abharsair

Attacking resting/sleeping/meditating people

12/10/2010

Greetings,

I’ve made some changes to the initial attacks. If you attack someone who is resting and your victim did NOT see you, he won’t stand up immediately, but starts getting up in stages as if he just fell down during combat. If he saw you prior to the attack, nothing changes.

If your victim was asleep, he/she will wake immediately, but proceeds to stand up in stages rather than immediately.

Meditate is identical to sleep.

If you encounter a bug, please let me know. Thanks.

Geas on social media

12/08/2010

Hi there,

We created a Geas Facebook Page and a GeasMUD Twitter account. Both will be used to announce MUD changes, and the Twitter feed will also inform you about new forum threads (with the exception of the “bug” sub-forum, and only the FIRST post of NEW threads will be tweeted). So if you want to be kept up-to-date via your favorite social media, either go to our webpage or our forum, and “like” us on Facebook or follow us on Twitter (just click on the appropriate icon). We also added a RSS feed for our forum, so feel free to use that too.

In the case of Facebook we would really appreciate it if you could “like” the Geas page, because if we get 25 “fans” we can request a username for our URL there.

We really appreciate your support.

Geas 2010 Yearbook Survey is live

12/02/2010

Yes, it’s the time of year when I curse snow shoveling, get increasingly aggravated by Christmas jingles in grocery stores, and plan my next escape to some sub-tropical island off the coast of Africa (poor poKorsario).

In other words, it’s the Geas 2010 Yearbook Survey time!

Like in every year you have again the chance to vote perfectly anonymously for people in various categories by typing “survey” and answering the questions. The results will be published at the beginning of next year.

Enjoy!

Abharsair

PS: The winner of “Most likely to help a newbie” will get a gift from me.
