Trading Post

05/31/2008

The allowed range of prices has been changed a bit. This allows you to demand a bit more if you think the item is worth the price. The trader will hint on your price in four categories:

L = low price, N = normal price, H = high price, E = extreme high price

Mudmail

If your mudmail account becomes too large (too many mails) it can happen that you are no longer able to read or write mails. To avoid this problem, sending mailsĀ  is now no longer possible when your inbox exceeds 200 mails. If that happens, please delete some old mails until you are below the 200 limit.

“hack” and “cleave”

02/26/2008

Hello,

There are two new combat specials and one new skill for two-handed axes. The basic special attack is called “hack” and once you reach a high enough proficiency in it, you’ll be able to “cleave”. For a list of all specials and their dependencies, type “specials”.

Please note that you might have to do a “quit quit” before you can start improving the “hack” skill.

If you encounter problems, let me know.

tree cutting

02/13/2008

Greetings,

We’ve added a new way of making money: lumberjacking.

Yes, that’s right. No more pesky tree logs which are as useful as nipples on men. Now if you cut down a tree, you can “cut” the log into a “beam”. This beam can be transported (carried, pulled, or put on a cart dragged by yourself for a horse) to a lumber yard and sold there for good money. The value of a beam or log depends on its size and the type of wood (some kinds are more valuable than others), and the size of the beam will depend on your wood working skill.

So far the only lumber yard is next to the Arborea harbour, but if it works, we will add more places where you can sell your wood. Also, the price for wood might be changed in the future depending on how much money people will
be able to make.

Lastly, please read “help carts” (we lowered the prices for renting carts), “help trees” and “help mounts” for all the commands you might need.

weapon sharpness

02/11/2008

Greetings,

We added that cutting/piercing weapons have now a “sharpness” property. What it does should be quite self-explanatory, but please read “help sharpen” for more details.

Please note that we will monitor how quickly weapons get dull, and we might have to increase/decrease the speed of this process. The same applies to the “sharpen” command.

Religion II

01/17/2008

Hello,

Another change to make the favour and karma system more accurate.

From now on if you team with others who worship a god who is an enemy of yours, you will lose favour with your god over time.

Similar to that, if your karma and your team partner’s karma differ significantly from each other, your karma will drop/rise.

Resurrection

01/13/2008

Hi there,

We have added another change to the religious system. Rather than losing a fixed amount of vitality when you die, the vitality loss will now depend on several factors. Positive factors are:

1) The priest who resurrects you serves the same deity as you do.
2) The priest is a player rather than an NPC.
3) Your karma is perfect in the eyes of the god who resurrects you.
4) You have a lot of favour with the god who resurrects you.

Needless to say that it would be a very, very bad idea to ask for resurrection at a shrine whose god is an enemy of yours, while you have no favour and bad karma.

If you fulfill all or most of the positive requirements, you will lose less vitality than with the old system. If you do not, you will lose more.

new books

11/25/2007

During the next days all books will be converted to a new version:

– you can add an illustration to a page
– you can add text to a learnbook
– learning from a book will no longer directly increase a skill, but will give a bonus to improve the skill when used
